How to eliminate conjunctival congestion?

When feeling tired and uncomfortable, most people will have red and swollen eyes, which may even be a precursor to many diseases. So, why does the conjunctiva become congested, and how can we quickly eliminate this problem?
After a long period of sleep deprivation or prolonged use of electronic products, the eyes will suffer from eye fatigue, difficulty in focusing, blurred vision and even decreased vision, and imbalance of ciliary muscle regulation, which may lead to congestion. Wearing ill-fitting contact lenses or wearing them for too long can also easily cause corneal redness and congestion.
Eye redness may be associated with certain diseases and should be taken seriously. Conjunctivitis, a common eye condition, can be either acute or chronic. During an episode, in addition to red eyes, patients may experience intense itching or a burning sensation. Keratitis, caused by bacterial or viral infections, often presents similar symptoms to conjunctivitis, including blurred vision and increased secretions. If the uvea becomes inflamed, it can cause redness, pain, sensitivity to light, and decreased vision. If left untreated, it can lead to permanent vision loss. Besides these inflammations, other eye conditions like glaucoma and dry eye syndrome can also cause redness, and in such cases, symptomatic treatment is essential.
For quick relief of eye congestion, methods such as cold compresses, sleep, and gentle eye massages are recommended. However, if the congestion is due to inflammation or infection, antibiotics like levofloxacin eye drops, erythromycin ointment, or tobramycin eye drops should be used. When congestion is caused by fatigue or venous stasis, anti-fatigue eye drops or artificial tears can help improve microcirculation in the eyes. For conjunctival congestion caused by increased intraocular pressure due to conditions like glaucoma, medications like timolol eye drops are typically used to stabilize the pressure.
Reasonably adjusting eye usage time and developing healthy eye habits can prevent the eye from being overburdened. Regularly checking the condition of the retina and vision, and getting glasses as needed, are effective ways to prevent eye congestion and further eye diseases. It is hoped that everyone will fully recognize the severity of this issue and take proactive actions to better protect their 'window to the world.'
